Your blogger is a fatty!

Joskus täytyy vähän pohdiskella, joten tehdään se nyt kun päivän meikissä (tai siinä, että sitä ei ole) ei ole mitään jännää.

Päätökseni näyttää blogissa kasvoni ei ollut aikoinaan helppo tehdä. Siinä missä jotkut rakastavat erityisesti luomivärejä tai kynsilakkoja, rakastan minä kasvomeikkejä, ja niiden esittely on, yllätys yllätys, helpointa kokokasvokuvien avulla. Mua kuitenkin vähän pelotti paljastaa koko naamani, sillä kuten joku on ehkä huomannut, ei mun pärstävärkkini ole mitään kosmetiikkamainoskamaa. Ilman meikkiä olen aika valju ilmestys, ja silmänalusten tummuutta kuvaamaan tarvittaisiin jo oma terminsä. Lisäksi olen ylipainoinen, ja mulla on valtava kompleksi nenäni suhteen. Hurraa.

Suomalaisissa kosmetiikkablogeissa kasvojen näyttäminen ei ole kovin yleistä. Osasyy siihen on varmasti halu säilyttää anonymiteetti, mutta välillä mä olen miettinyt, kuinka moni kokee epävarmuutta oman ulkonäkönsä suhteen ja sen takia on mieluiten paljastamatta kasvojaan kokonaan. Pahimpina hetkinä mietin, että mulla olisi varmasti enemmän lukijoita, jos naama olisi nätimpi. Ei, meikkaustaidoilla, päivitysten tahdilla ja kiinnostavuudella ja blogin nuorella iällä ei varmasti ole mitään tekemistä asian kanssa... Kerrottakoon myös se, että olen useamman vuoden kärsinyt erilaisista pääongelmista (masennusta, ahdistuneisuutta, paniikkioireita), mistä voitte varmaankin osittain päätellä, kuinka "hyvä" itsetunto mulla on.

Välillä tuntuu, että otan bloggauksesta ihan liikaa stressiä, ja joudun muistuttamaan itselleni että mä teen tätä homma siksi että tämä on kivaa, ei siksi että mun olisi pakko. Jos haluan pitää taukoa, pidän tauon. Se, että jotakin merkintääni ei kommentoida, ei tarkoita sitä, että kaikki ajattelisivat että olen ihmisenä läpipaska.


In English: Sometimes one has to think about things. I'm doing it now, since there isn't anything exciting about my Look of the Day (or rather, the lack of it).

When I started this blog, it wasn't easy for me to decide to show my face here. Some people love eyeshadows, others love nail polish. I love face products, and that, of course, makes it quite necessary to show the products on my face. However, I was a bit scared to show my whole face, because I do not look like the models in makeup ads, as you might have noticed. I look quite bland without makeup, my dark circles are not from this world, I'm overweight, and I have a nose complex. Hurray.

When it comes to Finnish beauty blogs, most bloggers do not show their face. I think it's mainly because they want to be anonymous, but sometimes I wonder if there's someone who's hesitant to show her face because she's unsure about her own appearance. At my worst moments I think that sure my blog would have more followers if I had a prettier face. No, makeup skills, amount and quality of updates, and the fact that this blog is still fairly new certainly don't have anything to do with the number of my followers... And well, I've been suffering from different kinds of mental problems (depression, anxiety, panic attacks) for several years now, and that probably tells you how "good" my self-esteem is.

Sometimes I feel that I'm stressing too much about blogging, and I have to remind myself that I'm doing this because I want to, not because I was forced to. If I want to take a break, then I'll take it. If I write an entry and no-one comments on it, it doesn't mean that people think that I'm a bad person.

LOTD: Pink Smoke

Huhhuh, milloinkahan mä viimeksi olen tehnyt smokey eye -meikin? :D Oikein kiva tästä mielestäni tuli, vaikka häivytys vähän pissii paikoittain. Vaaleanpunainen pehmentää mustaa, ja tekee kokonaisuudesta hauskan ja tyttömäisen. Kuten kuvista jotenkuten näkyy, Sassy Mineralsin Bling ei ole mattamusta vaan siinä on kultaista kimalletta.

EDM:n pressed base sopii mielestäni juuri tämäntyyppisiin meikkeihin mainiosti, se on omimmillaan kun ihosta pitää tehdä virheettömän ja matan näköinen, neutraalimpien silmämeikkien kanssa sellainen näyttää monesti turhan elottomalta.

In English: Phew, I can't remember when I last did a smokey eye look :D I think this turned out really well, though the blending is bit crappy here and there. The light pink softens black, and it also makes the makeup look a bit more fun and girly. As you hopefully can see, Sassy Minerals Bling isn't matte black, but has golden sparkle.

I used EDM pressed base on my face, I think it suits these kind of looks great. It makes your skin so flawless and matte, which can look quite lifeless when paired with neutral eye makeup.

Pleasant surprises

Tänään sain täysikokoisen Sassyn pohjani! Tavaraa purkissa on hintaansa ($14) nähden oikein mukavasti, 7 grammaa. Ja eikö purkki olekin tosi söpö! Purkissa on siis sifter, mutta sen päällä on tuo valkoinen tarra.

In English: Today I received my full size Sassy base! It costed $14 and there is 7 grams of foundation in the jar, pretty generous. And isn't the jar cute! The jar has a sifter, but it's covered by the white sticker.



Sain myös kaksi ilmaista samplea. Kaksi! Rumor Mill -luomiväri ("golden beige with silver and gold sparkles") ja Pinch Me -poskipuna ("neutral pink beige"). Molemmat ovat ihania, ja musta tuntuu jo nyt että tuosta poskipunasta pitäisi ehkä mahdollisesti saada täysikokoinen... Swatchattu ranteen sisäpintaan Detrivoren primerin päälle.

I got two free samples, too. Two! Rumor Mill eyeshadow ("golden beige with silver and gold sparkles") and Pinch Me blush ("neutral pink beige"). Both are really lovely, and I already have a feeling that I might have to buy a full size jar of that blush... These are swatched on inner wrist, on top of Detrivore primer.
